Flashmob: Requiem for the Missing
REACTION
“…looking back in time to a historically ambiguous almost fairytale image of London”

‘spooky’, time out
A flash mob performance art piece. A choir of hooded monks in slow procession around the courtyard of Somerset House. The somber troupe made their way into the Courtauld Institute of Art where they were joined by musicians for a dramatic evening performance.
The performance included an outdoor audio installation, in collaboration with sound artist, Scanner. Recordings of real séances and police missing reports blended into to an ethereal and haunting auditary experience.
The requiem contrasts dramatic scenes of a decaying body with ethereal visions of heaven. It includes traditional texts from the Requiem Mass, Buddhist meditations, and 18th century coroners’ reports.
Funded by Arts Council England, supported by Somerset House and the Courtauld Institute of Art.
