One of my earliest dreams was to write music for film ,TV and adverts. Like many media composers I taught myself how to compose by trial and error. I learnt to write in a range of styles to try impress the TV executives.
I was lucky to join the composer roster at DeWolfe Music, writing music for hundreds of productions, including The Apprentice, Coast, Horizon and many TV commercials. One highlight was recording the turbine hum at Tate Modern to cut into samples for a film soundtrack.
Film composition taught me some valuable skills which gave me an advantage for my later experimental work.
