I discovered the movement and energy of contemporary dance while studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire as a postgraduate. I’d never experienced anything like it, and spent most of my 2 years surrounded by choreographers and dancers.

As part of the Rambert New Choreographers Season, I was invited to join the rehearsals from the very beginning. It was a very fluid process. I filmed the dancers improvising, composed musical sketches in response, which I played back at the next rehearsal.

The music and movement evolved symbiotically until we locked it into place so the dancers and orchestral musicians could learn their parts. The final performance took place at London’s Southbank Centre.
